But week 1 is in the bag and heres a very big noobs perspective on what went right and what went so very wrong. By guessing on the dotabuff on what happened(Mind you my kid is literally jumping on me so there will be little to no effort on grammar I am focusing on speed)
Elite Force V.S. Mana Burnouts 1–1
Game 1
The Draft for Elite was very decently rounded damage wise but was missing the key ingredient, what hero is going to take towers mid game after winning a team fight. With only Jak to really help the tower pushing game which as a pos 5 probably died every team fight my guess is they fizzled out about mid game and the 3 core line up of Mana took over the map and eventually won the game.(no ticket guessing based on a screen shot)
Game 2
One look at this draft and you have to question what on earth happened to Mana’s draft from such a solid picks game 1 to almost guaranteed out draft game 2. With only the warlock supplying the one and only guaranteed stun this and no real setup for the invoker spelled an easy demise early and through the entire game. I am sure the game dragged out because of the good high ground defense but game looked doomed from the start.
H2O/ZET VS Glad Tortoises 1–1
Game 1
What can I say besides SoraLella middle can just take over a game if you can put him on a play making mid, thats exactly what happened here. Along with this was a solid game on axe by 50 Centaur. When looking from a drafting prospecting it isnt surprising that this was a longer game it was a solid draft from both sides.
Game 2
This game had somewhat decent drafting the H2O/ZET draft feels awkward with a p5 phx and a offlane tiny. However the longer this game went on the better this draft can get with the puck coil with the egg. Close game very evenly matched teams will be cool to see again hopefully in the post season.
Whats in the Box VS 5 Guys Burgers 0–2
Game 1
In the Box had a very interesting draft picking up a pos5 tide for Rogers. which seemed to not work out well at all as they lost their lane and tide which feels unkillable at times died twice before 10 minutes which unfortunately was topped by the offlane lion which died 3 times in the first 10 minutes. The game started off rough for the supports and their support items suffered in the end.
Game 2
In the Box had a very very hard game after such an amazing laneing phase going mid draw, safe win, offlane win. But this all doesn’t matter because of one simple game losing decision. Why on gods green and somewhat smog covered earth would you ever give CELTIC ALC. He lost like 1 game all last season even when picking it 1st phase. Coupled with the fact he gave doom an aghs to break bristle at 30min I really feel like this was a draft dumpster and going forward In the Box will have to look a little closer at at least the cores they are up against.
Just Harrys VS PotM 1–1
Game 1
Just Harrys had a very good outlook going into the season but fell flat the first game. At some point you must wonder when people are going to realize Princess has this WR thing on lock down (unless you disable with amazing pango rng :) but I digress this is again a drafting fooopaaa and a Maestro must have been drunk to draw mid with a L2 player. As a side note Yoey made good use of the map and farmed like a true boss.
Game 2
Maestro again drew mid however this was the redemption game walking over all of PotM’s heroes and curb stomping them along the way. Just Harrys had a very clear cut draft and executed it very well and started to look like the team everyone thought they would be. On the other side it seemed like PotM was a clear cut loss after the draft, Tiny didnt seem to fit in this draft well and somehow lost roaming and their 5 lost jungle soo yaaaa no surprise here.
Baboon ESports VS Doggy Play Date 2–0
Game 1
Baboon came out swinging in all lanes which is not what Doggy expected. Usually with medusa you need a little more time to get what you need and Doggy drafted razor and centaur to bridge that gap. When all of those lanes lose and you draw even mid you really don’t have have any window and you get slowly boxed in until you stone gaze your own team to death.
Game 2
Baboon didn’t win every lane but won the draft here by last picking a timber into 4 strength heroes. Doggy banning NP and Huskar seems super sus allowing a timber through that lost the lane but was never in danger of losing the war.
Bugs VS Watermelon Heads 0–2
Game 1
Bugs had a huge laneing phase winning two and drawing mid. When you really look at this game before it even starts you have 0 stuns with a razor on the other team let me take a minute for that to sink in. You have a great game but a small window in to win this game unfortunately much like this game the brightest stars burn out the fastest.
Game 2
Much like last season Rinzler wants his mag even though the hero right now is meh… and his team suffered for it. The space looked none existent in this game for Bugs and when your Pos1 has the 4th lowest damage and your Pos4 has basically 2nd highest with no real farm maybe we should look at shaking some stuff up here.
Peepocomfy VS Fluffy Hat 2–0
Game 1
Fluffy started out rough drawing both mid and top then losing jungle/roaming pos4/5 and Offlane. Peepo had a very comfy draft with good physical and magical damage and great set up from the tide and a very early end time in mind. Unfortunately the Axe never really was able to come online which really wasn’t his fault, the synergy felt weird with a Pugna. Please ignore the 0 kills invoker as he was forced into this hero after voicing not wanting to play it :S
Game 2
Heres the thing again Peepo had great fighting disrupter type heroes with not as much push in the lineup to start with. Altho it was a grief to pick pudge from Bobby Boy the pudge though landing some big hooks was heavily countered by Ursa and Pango. Viper was a good idea for a break in theory the control wasn’t good enough to keep the Tints Balls to the wall Ursa in it.
Alexa, Zeus VS Mods of /R 1–1
Game 1
The out play here was huge Alexa won two lanes and drew offlane. I feel a very = draft maybe ever so slightly favoring Alexa. The synergy between the Poo and Zam was very on point and allowed for a very good game looking game. It would be a disservice to not say Miyushi Oracle was quite impressive something to note in future games for everyone.
Game 2
Lol a Zam sniper LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL I was going to say how good this team looked and how impressive the draft and vision of a clear cut way they wanted to play Dota, was instantly all lost in during this draft. You can argue me all you want Zam but this was a dumpster fire waiting to happen. You saw puck and LC even before the AM with no saves on the team. Mods of /R really played a very impressive game by winning all lanes but the story was already written in the draft play half way decent and you are gonna win the game.
Xenia VS Baby Yodas 0–2
Game 1
Xenia loses every lane but lets dive into why! Looking at the draft Baby Yodas looks so solid with very even magical physical and disables. The control wasn’t bad for Xenia but i would have liked to see an Aghs rush from the mid Snapfire to allow for the Sven to maximize his timings instead of going blink feels super game losing to waste 2k gold when your already so far behind.
Game 2
Xenia didn’t change up to much keeping with an ogre and Snapfire and played well during the laneing stage this really could have been anyones game. I really feel that there was a missed opportunity on different items to help win this game other than 3 HH’s to disable the Dusa. But I don’t know shit and i didn’t watch all these games so who knows.
Banned Toxic LOL Player VS BYE 2–0
Hope these guys enjoyed the 2–0 clap of the imaginary team they faced. Jury’s still out on this team but can’t wait to see these guys play!
